About Us

Our Story

FOODIAC advocates for students with food intolerances and allergies by promoting and encouraging a more dietary-friendly UofT campus through discussions and seminars; and by fostering a community where individuals share their experiences and tips for others to learn more about the impact of dietary restrictions.

  1. Purpose and Objectives

The purpose, objectives, mission and/or mandate of organization is outlined here:

  1. Provide an environment where people with dietary restrictions can communicate their struggles and tips to better their time spent at university since this is a place that cannot be closely regulated (ex. Some middle/high schools are nut-free)
    1. Hold meetings and events throughout the year with friendly food (eaten at own discretion) while discussing experiences
    2. Help integrate incoming first years into a safer community on-campus.
  2. Promote being more dietary friendly on campus (emulate Victoria College’s dining hall of being nut-free, Trinity College’s posting of ingredients, New College’s ability to communicate to the chefs quite easily)
    1. Communicate with UofT Food Services in helping make dining halls, food courts, franchises on campus, and vending machine more allergy/intolerance friendly.
  3. Help others understand what it means to have dietary restrictions and come up with resources or a set of pathways to follow when questions are asked
    1. Talk to Food Allergy Canada as a potential sponsor or source of accurate information
    2. Talk to Celiac and Lactaid Websites to see how they can help and provide students with help (in a non-medical unofficial way)
